Norway faced Germany in Solna, Sweden, in the 1995 Women's World Cup Final. Goals from Hege Riise and Marianne Pettersen game them a 2-0 victory.
The USA hosted the 1999 tournament and reached the final to play China in Pasadena. The match finished 0-0 and a great save from Briana Scurry helped The USA to victory in the penalty shootout.
Germany faced Sweden in Carson, USA, in the 2003 final. Sweden went ahead through Ljungberg but Goals from Maren Meinert and substitute Nia Kunzer gave Germany a 2-1 victory and their first title.
Germany reached the 2007 final where they faced Brazil in Shanghai, China. Goals from Birgit Prinz and Simone Laudehr gave them a 2-0 win which meant Germany were the first team to retain the trophy.
In an exciting final Japan faced the USA in Frankfurt, Germany, in 2011. Aya Miyama scored late to cancel out a Morgan goal and Homare Sawa did the same to draw level after Wambach gave the USA an extra time lead. A 2-2 draw meant penalties and it was Saki Kumagai who hit the winning kick for Japan.
The 2015 final was played in Vancouver, Canada, between the best two teams in the world, The USA and Japan. However The USA demolished their opponents in a 5-2 win. Carly LLoyd scored 3 while Lauren Holiday and Tobin Heath added the others. Ogimi and a Johnston own goal were the scorers for Japan.
The USA met The Netherlands in Lyon, France, in the 2019 final. Megan Rapinoe scored a second half penalty and Rose Lavelle got the 2nd goal in a 2-0 victory.
