Holders Liverpool defended the trophy against a slick Tottenham Hotspur at Wembley. Like last year they went behind but with moments remaining Ronnie Whelan made it 1-1. In Extra time another goal from Whelan and another from Ian Rush sealed victory.
In 1983 Liverpool were back at Wembley in their third consecutive League Cup Final. This time they faced Manchester United. One again they found themselves having to come from behind. Alan Kennedy and Ronnie Whelan supplied the goals that won the cup.
It was two titles in a row for Liverpool as Bob Paisley led them to another victory. Once again Ian Rush was top scorer with 24 goals.
Proving themselves to be the kings of the competition Liverpool reached the final for the 4th year running and aiming to stop their run were rivals Everton. After a 0-0 draw at Wembley both teams travelled to Maine Road where a goal from Graeme Souness was enough to see off the Toffees.
Joe Fagan took over as manager and led Liverpool to an historical third title in a row. Ian Rush bagged 32 goals.
Liverpool Triumphed again in Europe's premier trophy as they beat Roma in their own city thanks to a Phil Neal opener and then Brucie's wobbly legs in the dramatic penalty shootout.

In a very entertaining final Liverpool faced a tough challenge from Cardiff City. Goals from Skrtl and Kuyt were not enough and Cardiff scored a late equaliser to send the game into a penalty decider. After a string of misses Cardiff's very own Gerrard missed to send Liverpool away with the trophy.

In an all English final Liverpool faced Tottenham Hotspur in Madrid. Liverpool were off to a flying start when Mohamed Salah converted a penalty in the first two minutes. A late goal from Divock Origi earned Liverpool their 6th title in the competition.
After a 30 year wait Liverpool were English champions again. Jurgen Kopp's Reds were captained by Jordan Henderson. Mohamed Salah scored 19 goals.
Liverpool faced Chelsea in the 2022 final. Despite an entertaining game the score finished 0-0. The match was decided on penalties. All 21 players on the pitch scored but Chelsea Keeper Kepa blazed his kick over the bar to give The Reds the victory.
In a repeat of the League Cup Final, Liverpool and Chelsea played out a 0-0 draw which saw the game decided on penalties. It was Kostas Tsimikas who scored the deciding kick for The Reds.
